ORIGIN OF STYLE
- Style originates from Bengal, India. These homes were built for English officers during the final years of the British Empire’s reign over India
- Bungalows built in the United States originated in California as a reaction to elaborate Victorian homes (1800’s – early 1900’s)

HISTORY
- The half story or second story would often be left unfinished when first built. This was done so the home would be less expensive for the initial buyer. Homeowners would then be able to finish the half story or second story themselves.
- The Bungalow style was so popular that a manufacturers kit home could be ordered from the Sears catalog.
